College is not only a source of education but many folks figure that a situation that densely packs in peers that have similar ambitions as you is an opportunity for finding relationship prospects. Farquar, despite being a smooth guy, has his fair share of issues finding an even remote level of mutual interest.
–Ultimately I did go to grad school and that is when I found my would-some-day-be wife, but we didn’t actually meet at school.
We’ve all have some questions for the maker, some more lofty than others. This conversation with Farquar and his roommate pretty much spells out some of society’s most pressing questions.
-Published in the NC State Technician back during my Senior year. My roommates and I had a pretty similar conversation at one point. I’m a fan of how when Farquar’s roommate imagines the sun, it takes on his own facial hair style.
Towards the end of the initial Farquar series, the title character wanted to make a declaration to change the world. In my opinion, it still makes sense. Why do we only know of “Tall, dark and Handsome”? Farquar’s hopes were of course dashed as things have seemly not changed. Some of the best drawings in the series.
Original Version: The original version had 4 more panels. His declaration implied that freckles should be more highly valued in society despite how Farquar was never portrayed with freckles. The final frames hint that the Comic artist was just being lazy in leaving Farquar un-freckled. I’m pretty certain that it didn’t make sense to anyone so the first 4 frames are more suited to stand on their own.
The second installment of If Statements…this time with a dash of color. Remember that this strip was printed originally in a college student newspaper which explains the class room related panel.
One of the first Farquar comics which is likely obvious from the drawings being less refined, and the captions being handwritten rather than typed. To this day, I’ve never had anything stolen from me by a squirrel but I have seen videos of such things on youtube, so it can happen (but likely with bait; maybe peanut butter?).
